Ask anyone why they want to start their own business and 90% of the time the answer is money. Money to not worry about bills, money to send the kids to school, money to get that new car, luxury mansion and five-star vacation.

Now first, before we go any further, there’s something I want to clear up. So many people set misaligned standards for themselves. They think “Yes, I want money, I want this lifestyle,” but then they turn their head and look and wealthy people saying “Those people are greedy. Look at all that money they have. It must have been so easy for them. Who needs a 20 bedroom mansion and 5 Ferrari’s? I mean really, it’s so ridiculous.”

Anything you show love for, will come your way. Anything you show disdain for, will never come your way. No matter how bad you want it. Treat money as a lover. Treat it with care, give it attention, and it will love you back and come your way more often. I could write a novel about that one thing alone, so let’s get back to the topic at hand.

Before you begin your journey of becoming wealthy, understand there are two ways to do it. The easy way, and the hard way. The easy way is to build a gold-leafed foundation in your head. It sounds so simple, and I’m sure you’ve heard this before. But hearing something before, and actually putting it into action are two completely different things.

As you set out, understand that your current life situation is a result of what you have thought. What you think about on a daily basis. Sure, you’ve heard this before and might be thinking “The Secret, blah blah blah, yeah I read it, meditated one time and nothing happened.” But as you continue to have an attitude of disdain for realizing your life is a result of your thoughts, so you will continue to not achieve what you truly deserve.

No sense in sugar-coating the matter because if you’re reading this, I want nothing more than to help you achieve everything you deserve. By telling you “Hey Champ! Just worry about driving traffic and you’ll be rich!” serves absolutely zero purpose in your life, or mine. Before you spend one second worrying about the details of daily business activities, sharpen your mind. For trying to build a multi-million dollar empire on a foundation created by the mind of a poor person, will never work.

I want you to be rich in your mind. I don’t care what your circumstances are. You can still be rich, and have zero money in the bank account. I know because that is how I lived my life growing up. People I went to school with always thought I was wealthy. I found this strange at the time. I heard this comment frequently. Was it because I had designer clothes? Nope. Was it because I drove a fancy car? Not unless an ‘85 Subaru is a fancy car. It was because I was wealthy in my mind, and presented myself, and communicated with others, from that viewpoint, and expected to be treated as such. I expected to be wealthy. I knew the dollars would simply be a side note of what was brewing in my mind.

I want you to do the same. Starting today. You are already rich. You simply may not see it, and you just might not know how to cash in. In my next post I’m going to give you some specific action steps, some of my “Wealthy Jedi Mind Tricks” as I like to call them, that are going to help you put this into action today.

Here’s something interesting to think about. So I like to study Military and War Strategy. Some of the best business books I’ve read are not business books. They’re books about war. At any rate, did you know that our elite fighting forces—the SEALS, the Green Berets, and Marine Force Recon—are trained to understand that by far the best weapon they have access to in any given situation is their mind?

If empires can be conquered with mental ability and strategy, just think what it can do for one bank account. Your bank account.
